ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — An investigation into a vehicle crash on Sept. 10 in west Asheville resulted in the arrest of a convicted felon.
The Asheville Police Department said in a Sept. 11 news release LaDarrell Antwain Mashburn, 47, was arrested after being involved in a crash in the 200 block of Emma Road at 7:36 p.m. on Sept. 10.
According to the release, when officers arrived at the crash, they found a vehicle with front-end damage. The driver told officers another vehicle swerved into the driver’s lane, causing the crash, and that the other driver fled on foot.
Officers later located the second vehicle and spoke with the passenger, who was identified as Mashburn. During the investigation, officers determined that Tania Lashae Conley, 30, had been driving the vehicle and fled on foot after the crash.
As the investigation progressed, Mashburn was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of narcotics and a firearm, police said. Mashburn was taken into custody without incident.
Mashburn was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility without bond. He was charged with the following:
Two counts of felony trafficking in fentanyl
Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver
Felony possession of Schedule II
Felony possession of firearm by felon
Carrying concealed weapon
Possession of marijuana up to a half ounce
Possession of drug paraphernalia
The following items were seized from Mashburn at the scene: 6.82 grams of fentanyl, 3.28 grams of cocaine and a 9 mm Taurus handgun.
Police also arrested Conley. She was charged with hit-and-run, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, open container and possession of up to a half ounce of marijuana.
